Personal & Experimental Work
I’ve been fascinated by the physical world my entire life. My journey into fabrication and design has been an attempt to gain some agency in this tradition as old as humankind itself. How we make things and how we treat things are intimately related. If we want people to treat things well, to value the world of man made objects that surround us, we need to provide people with beautiful, substantial items deserving of such treatment. My personal work and experimentation has been in service of this goal, a lifelong pursuit of craft, a reverence and respect for the countless makers, designers, craftspeople, and inventors, human beings, on whose shoulders we now stand looking out into an uncertain universe.
I honestly believe that lovingly crafted intentional objects can ground us and remind us of our humanity and value in a world where so many things and people are discarded. They can remind us of the mutuality and reciprocity that exists in contrast to the separateness and detachment that industrially produced goods too often engender.
